Rave culture has changed so dramatically since my day, long gone are the days of meeting at motorway service stations and following convoys of nutters to fields around the M25.  Is this Logical progression? This remains to be seen. The quality of people at events nowadays is some what suspect, and you will agree so are the party prescriptions. Maybe I’m getting old? Even though it’s been some 10 years since I visited my last rave, I still get goose pimples when I hear certain choons.

1988 – 1993 were without a shadow of doubt the best years of my life, (I think) it was amazing to be part of a movement that has changed British society in such a big way. Without the old skool there would be no UK garage, no drum and bass and definitely no house music revival like you have seen in the last 5 years. The influence that the rave scene has had on people of my generation has been positive, and although I look back in fondness, I can’t help but be angry at what has happened to the scene of today.

It didn’t take long for corporate giants to see the earning potential that dance music had. They have caused my beloved scene to mutate into a commercial water bed of cheese on toast.

Thank you so much for sending me the flyers. I've been after the Elevation (Rap's Engagement Party)

The Flyers were in tip-top condition and arrived when you said they would!

Wanna say well done for having the time to do your site, I'd like to but cant be bothered. I'm in Scotland, and there is some cool stuff up here you southern fairies should hear. Place called soundhaus, non-profit dance-music-making organization during the week, cutting-edge-deep-house/old-skool-"aceed"  club at weekends. And a night called pressure at the arches club in Glasgow. Arches nights for colors/ministry/inside out/cream etc aren't capacity. Music is shite, names on the flier "judge 'wanna buy ma cd' jules etc and selling t-shirts are the most important things for them. They sold out. Pressure is selling out, ie cpacity, every month. You cant get into soundhaus without a membership. And check out a band called Silicone Soul. Got a tune called "Right on, Right on", its made it on to Tongs show. Anyone want to know more, knows of anything else as good that's going down, email me. see_ya@ibiza-2001.co.uk.

was just reading through the drug info, I thought id share a couple of stories with you. they were both the result of extreme stupid ness on my part.
ok, my hash story.. when I was younger.. my mum sent me to live in Israel with my dad.. now, I was very against that because, well, I didn't want to go. so clever me thinks.. I know.. ill eat this g and a half of hash and ill sleep all the way there. ate the hash, went to the airport, started feeling a bit monged.. after 2 hours or so I cant talk at all, just follow my dad around.. we go for a drink and I fall asleep.. then he says, right lets go, I get up, remember thinking, oh shit.. then falling and knocking myself out on a table. as I was already passed out when I hit it, I didn't feel a thing.. woke up an hour later feeling terrible..
these are both overdoing it stories by the way.
the acid story. im very interested in sleep deprivation and took it upon myself to stay awake for a week (didn't quite manage it). I bought shit loads of acid to help. until this time, I hadn't done pills and acid was by far my favorite drug. did the first couple and spent the day walking around feeling very at one with nature and very happy.. this went on for about 2 days...on the 3rd day, I was running low and as the acid wasn't that strong ( I was doing 3 a time to get a good hit) I thought fuck it and dropped the last six. my friend from Canada was visiting so we were going to a heavy metal club.. on the way I started feelin a bit off...got to waterloo station and I swear to god I could hear every single sound that was going on. some very very weird people came and asked me if I was enjoying myself which seemed a bit odd as I was standing outside the gents toilets waiting for my friend. got on the underground (very very bad idea) and sat there trying to control my brain.. got to the club with my, then, very pissed best mate, and sat outside for 2 hours waiting for it to open (my brain wasn't with me most of the week so I don't know why we were so early) I spent the whole time hearing everything and being convinced I was going to go insane (terrifying experience). got in the club and I calmed down a bit (6 hours having passed since I took the 6 trips). in the club I could only hear noise, mixed with the rather irritating hardcore that I had been listening to that day that was playing incredibly loudly in my head. I asked my friend what song was on and despite the fact that I knew the song well, I couldn't decipher it from the noise.. went into the toilet and spend another 7 hours staring at the 'breathing' wall. got on the bus home, still hearing hardcore in my head. got home and took 8 strong sleeping pills to stop everything.. woke up 2 days later on the living room floor. I was awake, tripping for about 60 hours in total.
well, hope u put them up on the site coz that really put me of acid.. and I hope it puts other people off coz that shits evil.
Leona

I agree m8 with the thing about people killin the scene. Some of my mates put it down when they only hear the music once, them themselves like there garage, spoon fed or wot, its so commercial!!!! Thank god that promoters like slammin and Raindance r keepin the scene alive...
And another thing that annoys me is the amount of clubs that play hardcore in in my area. I live in Bedford about 5 miles from Milton Keynes and none of the clubs play hardcore as I am an aspiring dj and am hoping to make it somewhere in the scene , it really annoys me as I have nowhere to play.. The only way I can get a set is travelin to London and I'm only 16 so that is a big problem!!!! Hardcore will pull through as shown by slammin at there 7th of sept event, hardcore waz in arena 5 and the next event at the sanctuary it was in arena 1, was this due to overcrowding as they didn't realize the sheer amount of ravers that are behind the scene.. I think this is good enough proof that the scene is still alive. Oh yeh and another thing 'WOT WAZ HARD DANCE ALL ABOUT' was it a mixture of hardcore, hardhouse and techno????

Laterz DJ Ruff Ride....keepin the hardcore vibe alive

Dear All @ Onelove Magazine,

Firstly I would like to thank you for bringing us such a decent web-site.  I
have searched the www from top to bottom for decent sites giving up to date
info about the raving scene, but have found just one, YOURS!

I think the site contains all the relevant info needed, and goes about it's
business very successfully.

I now read this site at least once a week, looking for info on where to go,
where's good, where's not etc, and I'd just like to see keep up the good work
, and I hope to see you all out raving soon.

The next big one is Raindance (24th June) unless you know of somewhere
better I can go in the meantime.

Cheers

Kieran.

Dear ONELOVE,
Just wanted to say well done in getting your magazine up and running and good luck in making it a big success, I had heard a rumour about the magazine a while ago, and to be honest its about time that there was a magazine written by ravers for ravers, instead of commercial shit that charges you two or three pounds to read them ramble on about roni size being the messiah of  drum + bass (and we all know what a lot of old bollocks that is!) so we look forward to reading some decent reviews and articles saying what the scene is really about.
A big hello to the vibalive crew, keeping the vibe alive as ever.
Love & smiley faces
Little miss old skool

Dear ONELOVE,
Having just read through ONELOVE magazine, I thought it was an excellent idea and I'm going to make sure I tell all my friends , I hope you keep it up, well done.
Can I just say a big shout to everyone that knows me...you know who you are.
See ya…..dreamer

Dear ONELOVE,
After coming across your website, I was surprised to find how much you've covered and are going to cover, you've covered just about everything to do with the ravescene, I especially enjoyed looking up the old flyers, it takes you back to the good old days (now im sounding really old). Its about time someone done something like this, good on you all at ONELOVE.
Luv...niky c

Dear ONELOVE,

I liked your magazine, it's very friendly and welcoming, without going over the top with the religious stuff, unlike eternity's e-magazine, which I thought was a bit sinister........Darren

Dear ONELOVE,

Your site looks like it's gonna be tops. I dunno if it's set up yet or what, but nothing is working apart from the pages that let you select what you want to look at. The actual info is not accessible!!!

                      LEX

DON'T WORRY LEX, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SORTED, HOPE YOU ENJOY

Dear ONELOVE,
Thanks for putting this brilliant magazine on-line. Despite living in south east london last year and moving to southend this year, I had no idea that raindance were playing hardcore. I will definitely be there in February. Thank-you!!

I started producing hardcore 8 months ago and received an e-mail from scott brown saying that he really liked my stuff because it is very different to most hardcore tunes. I'm pondering with the thought of getting a few dub plates done so who knows..

Once again thank-you for the magazine. It really lifts me to know that there are still so many people passionate about the scene.

Jim (Nimbus9)

Dear ONELOVE,

just a quick note to say how good the site is, keep up
the good work. keep the 'ardcore rockin' strong.

annon

Dear ONELOVE,

just had to congratulate u on the website. nice one.
i'm glad to see there are still people into the hard
sounds, its just a shame there are no clubs playing
hardcore in the north east.
imagine this for a new years eve - travelling 250+
miles to get to helter skelter, getting there, queing
for about an hour, getting asked for fuckin i.d. and
not getting in!! BASTARD. it ended up costing me and
me mates about £1400 just to come home.  go on, ave a
laugh on me!!
  see ya, Beansta.
