RATPACK
THE HISTORY
RATPACK are DJ Lipmaster Mark & MC Evenson Allen who joined forces back in 1986 at the birth of the warehouse/rave scene and are still standing strong 18 years later.
As Ratpack they have played throughout the UK at the defining events that have shaped the dance scene as we know now - Fantazia, Rezerection, Biology, Interdance, to current events at Helter Skelter, Moondance, United Dance, Dreamscape...and taking their sound world wide from Australia, Japan, USA, Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean building a die-hard fan base. When they play at multi-room events you can be guaranteed that their room 'packs out' when they take to the stage! Following the success of The Old Skool Masters series where they went head to head in the mix with Nicky Blackmarket, Magika and Simon 'Bassline' Smith.

The RATPACK must be the biggest and well known names in raving history, ever since it began 15 years ago if there is an old skool room at an event 9 times out of ten the RATPACK would be playing there and along the way they brought out some of the most memorable raving tunes so it is good to finally see a CD with all of the classics on.
I was really looking forward to hearing all their tunes again especially as I was raving when they all first came out.
The double CD consists of a CD with all the tunes separately and a CD with all the tunes mixed (the way it should be) with Evenson Allen MCing all through it giving it the proper rave vibe, and each CD comes with original mixes and remixes of most of their well known tunes.
The first CD starts off with what must be the RATPACK'S most famous tune of all, 'Searchin For My Rizla' which was a hit in 1992 (I think)... Ahhh the memory's come flooding back, 'I can feel another rush coming on..' I think it was Seduction in Margate the first time I heard the RATPACK play this tune, what a rush. A tune that even to this day makes the whole crowd sing along too! A tune that say's what the RATPACK are really about, if you only ever hear one RATPACK tune make sure its this one!! The remix (track 9 CD1 (Rhythm Masters Remix)) is also a wicked track and well worth listening too - love the baseline.
The CD then goes into classic tune after classic tune including 'Captain Of The Ship'- who could forget this one, 'The clipper', 'Dance With The RATPACK' and 'Looking Out My Window', there are even a couple of tunes I've never heard of and that's unusual for me. Don't forget to check out the remixes as well 'Rizla (Rhythm Masters Remix)', 'Captain Of The Ship (Ellis Dee Remix), and 'The Clipper (Bonus) are the best ones on the CD.
The Intro (track 1 CD2) with Lipmaster Mark beat boxing and Evenson Allen MCing was the nuts to listen too, it's a pity it wasn't a bit longer.
if you have ever liked/been raving or wondered what it was like then you need to get this CD for your collection because it sums up the rave scene very well.
Although I hear many of these tunes every time I go out raving (yes I still go raving!) it's good to actually have a copy at home so I can listen to the good old days whenever I want to and it will be especially good to listen to when I'm getting ready to go out raving and need a little boost!
All that's left to say is why oh why didn't the RATPACK make more tunes back in the day as they obviously new what they were doing!
