MC WHIZZKID

Q1.What is your real name?

A1.Gords

Q2.Why MC WHIZZKID?

A2.Believe it  or not, when I was 13 I got my first Set of decks.  When my mum saw the mixer, she said bloody hell you would have to be a Whizzkid to work this thing!  So I thought it would be a cool name and it just seemed to stick.

Q3.When did you start MCing?

A3.- I have always loved hip-hop, rappin and Mcing have always interested me since an early age, all the kids used to like pop groups but I was at the back with my walkman kickin out Public Enemy, but professionally I got my first residency at the end of 1994.

Q4.Where did you start MCing? (not including your bedroom)

A4 .I was a D.J. before I became an MC.  I used to play at local  party's, but would always end up on the Mic, until one day, a friend promoted a small venue in Peterborough and as before I ended up on the Mic, except this time there was a guy in the crowd who came up to me and asked me where I Mc'd.  At first I just laughed, as I did not think I was up to  much, but he looked at me seriously and passed me a telephone no. for  an old rave called Hyperbolic in Kings Lynn.  I was nervous but I called the no. and the promoter asked me to come down and MC the first hour.  Clarkee was on the decks and to be honest I shit myself, but people were coming up to me bigging me up.  I was still shell shocked when I was asked to come up regularly as a resident.  I stayed with Hyperbolic until they eventually closed.

Q5.What music do you MC to and why?

A5. As I mentioned B4 I have always liked hip-hop, and in 92' a mate at school lent me a LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad tape, I had never heard rappin over dance music let alone voice scratching.   I was HOOKED!!!
Being true to  my roots, I have stuck with  hardcore ever since.  You never forget your first love.

Q6.Is this your favorite music or is it just easy to MC to?

A6.The answer to that question is definitely not!  As soon as it starts getting easy, then I've got to try a bit harder to create new and more challenging within my rhymes.

Q7.Why haven't you gone over to garage like so many of the rave scenes DJ's?

A7. I believe in Hardcore and what the scene has to offer!   Don't get me wrong I really like Garage, but more to chill with a J to.  Hardcore gives me a release from the stress of life.  I can be who I want to be and express myself in the music I love.

Q8.You seem to be very popular, why do you think this is?

A8 .I used to be a raver myself, so I can relate to  how ravers feel and what they want from the scene.  I always try to rhyme about things people can relate to and I cannot see the point in being arrogant.  Life's' to short and you could always wake up with nothing the next morning or not at all if your cards marked.  Other than that I do not Know!  Just irresistible I guess!?!

Q9.What do you think of the scene at the moment and is it getting any better?

A9. I absolutely, unconditionally, positively love it.  I'll MC if there's two people in a club and still give 100%.  I think in the last year or so, raves have certainly started getting busier and it seems to  be getting  big abroad as well.  To me the rave scene is very much alive and anyone who says other wise should check the stats and kiss my ass.
The rave scene is definitely getting better, better D.J's making better tunes and better MC's stretching the boundaries and there's no stopping some promoters at the mo.  I am forever being amazed at the venues and capacity crowds, full of up for anything, Fuck it all ravers'.  My kind of people.

Q10.What do you think the scene needs at the moment?

A10.Dedication, not only from the D.J's, MC's and Promoters, but from the ravers as well, it's them that make the scene what it is and where it is today.  We wouldn't be having this conversation if it wasn't for them.  Now's the time to pull together and really  make a stamp on the dance music scene.  Its hot property!

Q11.What do you see yourself giving to the scene?

A11.- I like to think I add a touch of positivity and always try to hype the crowd, but the only people who can answer this question are the ravers and promoters who take me so seriously, cheers!

Q12.Where do you see yourself in several years?

A12. I see a Zimmer frame in one hand and a Mic in the other, cos I ain't goin nowhere.  Understand me I am aiming for the top  and when God decides my time is up, I'm gonna  come back and haunt the raves!  There will always be a taste of the Whizzkid liquid out there.  And you know this man! : ) !

Q13.Have you got any other projects on the go at the moment?

A13. I am hoping to do a big free party in the summer with a couple of mates, D.J Stylus and da MC Eddy M so keep your eyes peeled on the One Love site for info. coming soon.  I also hope to be going abroad this year, and kickin out some new sounds.

Q14.Have you ever M.C'ed on a record before, if so which ones, if not would you like to?

A14.I have appeared on a few tunes over the years, some most of you don't even know about.  In the early days I appeared as samples on a few of D.J. Demo's releases but in more recent days I have worked with D.J. Breeze and Micky Skeedale on a track called My Sexy Baby and also on a D.J. brisk re-mix of a track called Run To Me by E-Logic.  Both tracks are available on infinity recordings. Future projects involve Hixxy's Kikkin new lable Raver Baby' and there's talk of doin work with guys like D.J's Kaos, Storm, and a few that you will have to watch out for!  Maybe a collaboration of all the scenes best and up and coming talent.
